LUCKENBACH, Abraham, missionary, born in Lehigh county, Pennsylvania, 5 May, 1777; died in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, 8 March, 1854. He was educated at Nazareth Hall, Pennsylvania, taught there in 1797, and in 1800 became a missionary of the Moravian church among the Delaware Indians, laboring till 1843, when he retired to Bethlehem. He edited the second edition of David Zeisberger's "Delaware Hymn-Book" (1847), and published in the Delaware language "Select Narratives from the Old Testament."
