COOK, Albert John, naturalist, born in Owasso, Michigan, 30 August, 1842. He was graduated at the Michigan agricultural College in 1862, and then studied at Harvard. In lb67 he was appointed instructor in mathematics at the Agricultural College, and in 1869 succeeded to the professorship of zoology and entomology. Prof. Cook has been for many years agricultural and entomological correspondent, and, in some cases, editor of those departments, to the New York "Tribune," Philadelphia "Press," "Rural New Yorker," "New England Homestead," "Country Gentleman," and other journals. He has published "Injurious Insects of Michigan" (Lansing, 1873), and "Beekeeper's Guide" (1876" 14th ed., 1886).
