Ambrose Latting Jordan

JORDAN, Ambrose Latting, lawyer, born in Hillsdale, Columbia County, New York, in 1791; died in New York city, 16 July, 1865. He began the practice of law in Cooperstown, New York, in 1813, and in 1820 removed to Hudson, New York, where he remained in business until he settled in New York city in 1838. He attained eminence as a lawyer, was a member of the assembly, a state senator, judge of the court of appeals, and attorney-general of the state.
