NEW, Anthony, congressman, born in Gloucester county, Virginia, in 1747 ; died in Elkton, Todd County, Kentucky, 2 March, 1833. He was a colonel in the Revolutionary army and was elected to congress from Virginia as a Democrat, serving from 2 December, 1793, till 3 March, 1805. He then removed to Elkton, Kentucky, and was elected to congress from that state, serving in 1811-'13, 1817-'19, and 1821-'3.
