HUNTER; John Howard, Canadian educator, born in Bandon, Ireland, 22 December, 1839. He was educated at Queen's university, Ireland, and at Toronto university, Canada, where he received the degree of M.A. in 1861. He was appointed rector of St. Catherine's collegiate institute in 1871, principal of the Ontario institute for the blind in 1874, and inspector of insurance for Ontario in 1881. He has written much for magazines, and is the author of "Upper Canada College Question" (Toronto, 1868), and "Manual of Insurance Law " (1881).
