Charles Ezra Greene

GREENE, Charles Ezra, engineer, born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, 12 February, 1842. He was graduated at Harvard in 1862, and later, during the civil war, served as a volunteer in the United States army. He was graduated at the Massachusetts institute of technology in 1868, and in 1872 became professor of civil engineering in the University of Michigan. In addition to his teaching he has constructed the Huron River trestle bridge at Ann Arbor. Professor Greene is a member of the American society of civil engineers, and scientific associations. Besides papers contributed to engineering journals, he has published "Graphical Methods for Analysis of Bridge Trusses, extending to Continuous Girders and Draw-Spans" (New York, 1875); and "Graphics for Engineers, Architects, and Builders," in three volumes, entitled, respectively, " Roof Trusses," " Bridge Trusses," and "Arches in Wood, Iron, and Stone" (1876-'80).
