CASEAU, Charles Felix, clergyman, born in Quebec in 1807; died there in 1881. At the age of seventeen years he was chosen secretary by Bishop Plessis. He was ordained priest in 1830, and appointed secretary to Bishop Planet. He showed great courage and devotion during the cholera epidemic of 1832-'3, and during the fever epidemic of 1847 among the Irish immigrants he found homes for more than 400 orphans. In 1854 he was appointed chaplain to the convent of the Good Shepherd, and the rest of his life was devoted to the reclaiming of fallen women. On account of his successful exertions in this respect he was made domestic prelate of the pope. He was also vicar-general of the diocese of Quebec.
