DIRCK, Cornelius Lansing, clergyman, born in Lansingburg, New York, 3 March 1785; died 19 March 1857. He studied theology, was ordained at Onondaga, New York, in December 1807, and held various pastorates in the northern states, in addition to which he was connected with Auburn seminary as trustee in 1820'30 and 1835'57, vice president of the board of trustees in 1820'4, and professor of sacred rhetoric and pastoral theology in 1821'6. He served without salary, and as financial agent raised large sums for the seminary. He published "Sermons on Important Subjects" (1825).
