BISSELL, Daniel, soldier, died in St. Louis, Mo., 14 December 1833. He was appointed a cadet from Connecticut in September 1791; became ensign, 11 April 1792; lieutenant in January 1794; captain in January 1799; Lieutenant-Colonel, 18 August 1808; colonel, 15 August 1812: Brigadier-General, 9 March 1814. He commanded in the successful affair at Lyons Creek, U. C., 19 October 1814; m May 1815, became colonel of the 1st infantry, with the brevet of Brigadier-General, and was transferred to the 2d artillery on 16 January 1826.
