David Banister Morgan

MORGAN, David Banister, soldier, born in West Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1773; died in Covington, Louisiana, 15 July, 1848. He removed to Louisiana in 1803, served in the territorial legislature, was a member of the Constitutional convention, and after the admission of Louisiana to the Union was in the state legislature. He was surveyor-general of Louisiana and Mississippi, and commanded the militia of those states under General Jackson at New Orleans in 1815, with the rank of brigadier-general.
