Ferris Jacobs

JACOBS, Ferris, soldier, born in Delhi, New York, 20 March, 1836; died in White Plains, New York, 31 August, 1881. He was graduated at Williams in 1856, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1859, and practised in Delhi. Joining a New York regiment of volunteer cavalry, he served through the civil war, rising to the rank of colonel, and at its close was brevetted brigadier-general. He subsequently served two terms as district attorney of Delaware county, New York, and in 1880 was elected to congress as a Republican.
