Frank Hunt Hurd

HURD, Frank Hunt, lawyer, born in Mount Vernon, Ohio, 25 December, 1841. He was graduated at Kenyon college in 1858, studied law, became county prosecuting attorney in 1863, and a state senator in 1866. In 1874 he was elected a representative in congress from Ohio as a Democrat, and served one term, being defeated in 1876. He was again elected in 1878 and 1882, but was defeated in 1880 and 1886. Mr. Hurd has been conspicuous as an active advocate of free trade doctrines. He codified the criminal laws of Ohio in 1868.
