Gaetano Baluffi

BALUFFI, Gaetano, Italian ecclesiastic, born in Ancona, 29 March 1798; died in Imola, 11 November 1866. He was papal nuncio in New Granada, and discovered inedited documents at Bogota, which he incorporated in a " Religious History of America" (Rome, 1848). He afterward became bishop of Imola, a cardinal, and in 1860 an archbishop.
