George Hood

HOOD, George, author, born about 1815; died in Philadelphia, 18 May, 1869. He was business manager of the Philadelphia academy of music, and author of a "History of Music in New England" (Boston, 1846). This was the first work published in this country that contained a connected history of psalmody from the landing of the Pilgrims. The work also contained sketches of reformers and of the early psalmists.
