MANGER, George Partridge, lawyer, born in Dover, Massachusetts, 27 November, 1819. He was graduated at Harvard in 1840, and from 1843 till 1846 was tutor in that institution. He studied law, was admitted to the bar, and received the degree of LB. B. from Harvard in 1844. He was for many years the editor of "The American Almanac" (Boston), and also edited the Boston "Law Reporter" (vols. xi.-xvi.) in conjunction with Stephen H. Phillips and George S. ItMe, and after May, 1860, alone. He edited, with George Minor, the "United States Statutes at Large, Treaties, Proclamations, etc." (Boston), and in 1862-'3, with John G. Locke, revised and consolidated the city ordinances of Boston, Massachusetts, and collated the state municipal laws.
