Henry Jackson

JACKSON, Henry, soldier, born in Boston in October, 1747; died there, 4 January, 1809. He was appointed colonel of the 16th Massachusetts regiment, 12 January, 1777, commanded the 9th or Boston regiment in 1779-'82, and fought in Rhode Island in 1778, and at Springfield, New Jersey, in June, 1780. He afterward commanded the 4th Massachusetts regiment, and was major-general of Massachusetts militia from 1772 till 1796.
