Hosea Holcombe

HOLCOMBE, Hosea, clergyman, born in Union District, South Carolina, 20 July, 1780; died in Jefferson county, Alabama, in 1841. He was a farmer until 1800, when he began the study of theology, was licensed to preach in 1801, and, after ten years' labor, removed to North Carolina, and finally settled in Jefferson county, Alabama He published "A Collection of Sacred Hymns" (1815)7 "Anti-Mission Principles Exposed" (1836) 7 and "The History of Alabama Baptists" (1840).
