JONES, Hugh Bolton, artist, born in Baltimore, Maryland, 20 October, 1848. He took his first art lessons in his native city, but visited Europe in 1877, where he studied four years, and greatly added to the effectiveness of his style. He was elected associate of the National academy in 1881, and member in 1883. His works include "Tangier," "Return of the Cows," "Brittany" (1878); "October" (1882); and "On Herring Run, Baltimore" (1884).
