James Armstrong

ARMSTRONG, James, soldier, born in Pennsylvania in the early part of the 18th century; died in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, 3 March 1795. Of his early life little is known. He served as a colonel in the successful defense of Fort Moultrie, Charleston harbor, in the summer of 1776, and commanded the Pennsylvania militia in the defense of German-town in October 1777. He was a member of congress from 2 December 1793, till the day of his death.
