James B. Dodd

DODD, James B., mathematician, b.. in Virginia in 1807; died in Greensburg, Kentucky, 27 March 1872. He was chosen professor of mathematics, natural philosophy, and astronomy in Centenary College, Mississippi, in 1841, and in Transylvania University in 1846, of which institution he was acting president from 1849 till 1855. He was author of arithmetic's (New York, 1852), algebras (1853), and a geometry, and contributed to the "Southern Quarterly Review."
