HADDEN, James M., soldier, died in England, 28 October, 1817. He was an American loyalist, and served under Burgoyne and Cornwallis. He was appointed lieutenant of artillery, 7 July, 1779, was promoted to a captaincy in March, 1784, became colonel in 1804, and major-general in 1811. After the Revolution he went to England, became secretary to the Duke of Richmond, and was adjutant-general under Sir Charles Stuart during the stay of the latter in Portugal.
