John Campbell

CAMPBELL, John, publisher, born in Scotland in 1653; died in Boston, Massachusetts, in March, 1728. He was a Boston bookseller, and on 24 April, 1704, issued the "Boston News-Letter," the first permanent newspaper published in North America. He was postmaster of Boston for many years, ending with 1718, and was for several years justice of the peace for Suffolk County
