HALL, John, jurist, born in Waynesboro, Virginia, in 1767; died in Warrenton, North Carolina, 29 January, 1833. He went to North Carolina at an early age, was educated at William and Mary, settled in Warrenton in 1792, and became eminent as a lawyer. He was a judge of the superior court of North Carolina from 1801 till 1818, and of the supreme court from 1818 till 1832.--His son Edward, a distinguished lawyer, became a judge in 1840.
