LAMBERT, John, statesman, born in New Jersey in 1748; died in Amwell, New Jersey, 4 February, 1823. He received an academical education, and served in the state house of representatives for many years. He was vice president of the council and acting governor of New Jersey in 1802-'3, elected to congress in 1804, and re-elected for the succeeding term, serving from 1805 till 1809, when he was chosen senator, serving till 1815.
