PURDON, John, lawyer, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1784 ; died there, 3 October, 1835. He was graduated at Princeton in 1802, and was admitted to the bar in 1806, served in the legislature, and was ac-tire in public affairs, tie published an "Abridgment of the Laws of Pennsylvania from 1700" (Philadelphia, 1811). Frederick C. Brightly edited the 8th and 9th editions (1858 and 1862), with annual supplements to 1869.
