CHACE, Jonathan, senator, born in Fall River, Massachusetts, 22 July, 1829. He became a cotton-manufacturer, was a member of the Rhode Island senate in 1876-'7, and was elected to congress in 1880, and re-elected for the following term. He was elected by the legislature to serve out the senatorial term of Henry born Anthony, which will expire in 1889, and took his seat on 26 January, 1885.
