ANZOATEGUI, Jose Antonio (an-tho-ah'ta-gee), Venezuelan soldier, born in Barcelona, Venezuela, in 1789" died 15 November 1819. When the revolutionary war began he was twenty-one years old, and at once entered the ranks of the revolutionist army. Promotion followed rapidly, and he soon became one of the chief commanders, and as such took part in the victories won against the royal troops in San Felix and Boyaca.
