BOHORQUES, Juan (bo-or'-kes), Mexican prelate, born in the city of Mexico late in the 16th century" died in 1633. He was rector of the College of St. Louis in Puebla, filling several high ecclesiastical offices in Mexico, and representing his country in the Cortes at Madrid and his ecclesiastical province at Rome. Philip III. of Spain caused Bohorques to be appointed bishop of Caracas in 1610, but soon afterward he was placed in charge of the bishopric of Oaxaca, Mexico, which he administered until his death.
