QUEIPO, Manuel Abad (kay-po'), Spanish clergyman, born in Spain about 1760; died there about 1820. He came to Mexico about 1795, and, during the beginning of the strife for independence, became noted for his violent measures and publications against the patriots, as governor of the bishopric of Michoacan. He was presented and confirmed for the latter see, but, before being consecrated, was called to Spain in 1815.
