Maria Cutts

CUTTS, Maria, sister superior, born in Loughborough, Leicester, England, in 1811; died at Grand Coteau in 1853. She entered the novitiate of the Society of the Sacred Heart in Paris at the age of seventeen, and on becoming a professed nun, in 1836, asked to be sent on the American mission. She was named superior of the Grand Coteau convent after her arrival, and afterward was made superior of all the convents of her order in the west of the United States.
