Michael Walsh

WALSH, Michael, educator, born in Ireland in 1763; died in Amesbury, Massachusetts, 20 August, 1840. He came to America when a youth and became a teacher in Marblehead academy about the time of its organization in 1792, where Judge Joseph Story was one of his pupils. Harvard gave him the degree of A.M. in 1803. He was the author of a "Mercantile Arithmetic" (Newburyport, 1801), and a "New System of Book-keeping" (1826).
