JESUP, Morris Ketchum, banker, born in Hartford, Connecticut, 21 June, 1830. At an early age he settled as a merchant in New York city, and later engaged in the banking business. He was president of the Five Points house of industry in 1870, of the Young men's Christian association in 1871-'5, and later became vice president of the city mission and manager of the Presbyterian hospital. For several years he has also been president of the New York museum of natural history. His donations to the latter institution have been frequent and valuable, and he gave a handsome home in the Bowery for newsboys.
