KIEFFER, Moses, clergyman, born in Letter-kenny, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, 5 May, 1814. He was graduated at Marshall college, Pennsylvania, in 1839, and ordained to the ministry of the German Reformed church. He was pastor of the 1st Reformed church in Hagerstown, Maryland, from 1840 till 1850, when he was called to found and build the 2d Reformed church in Reading, Pennsylvania In 1855 he became president of Heidelberg college, Tiffin. Ohio, which post he held till 1864, serving as professor in the theological department from 1855 till 1867. After holding pastorates in Sandusky, Ohio, and in Greencastle, Pennsylvania. he became connected with a church in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, of which he is now (1887) pastor. The publications of his church were under his care from 1848 till 1863, and he has contributed to religious periodicals.
