WATERS, Nicholas Baker, physician, born in Maryland in 1764; died in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1796. He received a classical education, was graduated in medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in 1786, and practised in Philadelphia until his death. In 1790 he married Hester, daughter of David Rittenhouse, the astronomer, he published an abridged edition of "A System of Surgery," by Benjamin Bell, of Edinburgh, to which notes were added by Dr. John Jones (Philadelphia, , 1791).
