Noses Norris

NORRIS, Noses, senator, born in Pittsfield, New Hampshire, 8 November, 1799; died in Washington, D. C., 11 January, 1855. He was graduated at Dartmouth in 1828, practised law in Barnstead, New Hampshire, was in the state senate in 1830-'40, and was state solicitor for Merrimack county in 1843. He was elected to congress as a Democrat in 1842, served in 1843-'7, was speaker of the legislature in 1848, and the same year was chosen United States senator, which office he held until his death.
