REMY, Paul Edouard, French author, born in La Rochelle in 1711" died there in 1784. He was for several years in the navy department at Paris, and, becoming afterward one of the keepers of the state archives, made historical researches among the state papers there. He was obliged to publish his works in Amsterdam anonymously, as before the French revolution the publication of state papers was an unpardonable offence.
