RENAUD, Pierre Francois (reh-no), Flemish missionary, born in Liege in 1641; died in Lima, Peru, in 1703. He united with the Jesuits, was sent to South America about 1670, labored about twenty years among the Indians of the basin of Amazon river, and became afterward professor in the College of Lima. While he was in South America he wrote to his family and friends interesting letters, describing the Indians and the country, which were afterward collected and published under the title " Experiences et tribulations du Poe Pierre Renaud dans les deserts de l'Amazonie en l'Amerique du Sud " (Amsterdam, 1708).
