BURTON, Robert, member of the Continental congress, born in Mecklenburg county, Virginia, in 1747 ; died in Granville county, North Carolina, 10 April, 1825. He removed to Granville county, North Carolina, about 1775, was a commissioned officer in the Continental army, and in 1787 a member of the Continental congress. He was one of the commissioners to run the line between the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia in 1801.
