Samuel Hubbard

HUBBARD, Samuel, jurist, born in Boston, Massachusetts, 2 June, 1785; died there, 24 December, 1847. He was graduated at Yale in 1802, studied law, and settled in Biddeford, Maine in 1810 he returned to Boston, and became a partner of his former law tutor, Judge Charles Jackson. His ability and character won him the foremost place at the bar. From 1842 until his death he was a judge of the supreme court of Massachusetts. Harvard conferred on him the degree of LL. D. in 1842.
