LILLY, Samuel, physician, born in Geneva, New York, 28 October, 1815; died in Lambertville, New Jersey, 3 April, 1880. He was educated at a classical school in Lambertville, New Jersey, where he practised his profession after his graduation at the medical department of the University of Pennsylvania in 1837. He was elected a representative to the 33d congress as a Whig, serving from 5 December, 1853, till 3 March, 1855, was also judge of the Hunterdon county court and of the court of errors and appeals of New Jersey, and consul-general in British India. He was a member of the New Jersey medical society, of which he was vice president and president, and contributed to medical journals.
