ROBERTS, Samuel, lawyer, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 8 September, 1763; died in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, 13 December, 1830. He was admitted to the bar of Philadelphia in 1785, and after practising law there for a short time removed to Lancaster, and thence to Sunbury. In 1803 he was appointed president judge of the 5th judicial district of Pennsylvania, which office he held until his death. He published " A Digest of Select British Statutes, etc., which appear to be in Force in Pennsylvania," a work of value (Pitts-burg, 1817: 2d ed., Philadelphia, 1847).
