CALV0 DE LA PUERTA, Sebastian de (kahl'-vo), marquis of Casa-Calvo, born in Havana in the latter part of the 18th century ; died in Paris in 1820. He entered the army, was governor of Louisiana, and received from Charles IV., of Spain, in 1800, authority to restore that province to the French republic. In 1806 he went to Spain, and followed afterward the party of Joseph Bonaparte, whom the first Napoleon placed on the Spanish throne. After the expulsion of the French invaders from the Spanish peninsula,,Calvo went to Paris.
