Theodore Lorenzo Seip

SEIP, Theodore Lorenzo (sipe), clergyman, born in Easton, Pennsylvania, 25 June, 1842. He was graduated at Pennsylvania college, Gettysburg, in 1864, and at the Lutheran theological seminary, Philadelphia, in 1867, and in the latter year was ordained to the ministry. Immediately after his ordination he became principal of the academic department of the newly established Muhlenberg college, Allentown, Pennsylvania He was adjunct professor of Greek there in 1867-'72, professor of Latin in 1872-'80, of Greek in 1880-'6, and president of the college since 1886. He received the degree of D. D. in 1886 from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Seip has done more than any other man for the successful establishment and endowment of Muhlenberg college, tie is a frequent contributor to the periodicals of his church. Besides sermons and addresses, he has published " Inaugural Address as President of Muhlenberg College" (Allentown, Pennsylvania, 1886) ; " Muhlenberg College," an address delivered before the ministerium of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, 1887)" and "History of the College Association of Pennsylvania," of which he was a founder (1887).
