POND, William Adams, music-publisher, born in Albany, New York, 6 October, 1824; died in New York city, 12 August, 1885. He was educated in private schools in New York city, and at an early age entered his father's music business. He became well known as a publisher, and at the time of his death was president of the United States music publishers' association. Colonel Pond performed some military service as an officer during the civil war, and was for many years colonel of the veteran corps of the 7th New York regiment.
