SUDDS, William F., musician, born in London, England, 5 March, 1843. At the age of seven he came with his parents to the United States. While he was yet a boy he learned to play on several instruments, but he had no regular music-lessons until 1864. Nine years later he became a pupil at the Boston conservatory of music. Mr. Sudds resides at Gouverneur, St. Lawrence County, New York, where he keeps a music-store. His compositions comprise both vocal and instrumental music, and some of his pieces have become very popular. He has also published "National School for the Piano-Forte" (1881), and several collections of music in book-form, including "Anthem Gems" (Philadelphia, 1881-'3) and " Modern Sacred Duets" (Cincinnati, 1888).
