SAFFORD, William Harrison, lawyer, born in Parkersburg, Virginia, 19 February, 1821. He was educated at Asbury academy, Parkersburg, Virginia, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1842, and in 1848 removed to Chillicothe, Ohio, where he has since practised his profession. From 1858 till 1860 he served in the state senate, and from 1868 till 1874 he was judge of the 2d subdivision of the 5th judicial cir-cult of Ohio. He is the author of "Life of Blenner-hassett" (Chillicothe, 1850), and "The Blenner-hassett Papers" (Cincinnati, 1861).
