William Marsden

MARSDEN, William, Canadian physician, born in Bolton, Lancashire, England, 18 February, 1807; died in Quebec, Canada, 16 December, 1885. He came to Canada with his parents in 1812, studied medicine in London, England, and was graduated in 1830. He soon afterward returned to Canada, and, with the exception of five years at Nicolet passed his life in Quebec. Dr. Marsden was for many years president of the College of physicians and surgeons of Lower Canada, and of the Dominion medical association, and was chairman of the committee of the Marine hospital. Among his writings was a "History of Asiatic Cholera."
