SNOW, William Parker, English explorer, born in England about 1810. In 1861 Captain Snow endeavored to enlist public interest in behalf of an expedition to search for the companions of Sir John Franklin. He has published " Voyage of the 'Prince Albert' in Search of Sir John Franklin, a Narrative of Every-Day Life in the Arctic Seas" (London, 1851) ; "A Two-Years' Cruise off Terra del Fuego, the Falkland Islands, and the Seaboard of Patagonia" (2 vols., 18,57); "Catalogue of the Arctic Collection in the British Museum " (1858) ; "The Patagonian Missionary Society" (1858); "British Columbia Emigration," etc. (1858) ; and "Southern Generals" (New York, 1866).
