CHILTON, William P., jurist, born in Kentucky; died in Alabama, 20 January, 1871. He was, at different times, a member of each house of the Alabama legislature. In 1848 he was elected to the Supreme Court of Alabama, serving (a part of the time as chief justice) for a term of ten years. During the existence of the Confederate government, 1831-'5, he was a member of its congress.
